Twist

Puerto de los Portillinos, Spain | www.myfoododyssey.com

We encountered a number of twisty roads on our trip last summer. One of the twistiest, yet most beautiful, was the road through Los Portillinos, a mountain pass 1957 metres above sea level set in the Aquilanos Mountains in north-western Spain. Despite the blue skies it was freezing cold at the top, with patches of snow in sheltered areas.

  2. Arunas must be as tough as an Irishman if he just stood behind that signpost as the bullets went thru it!!
Beautiful place, I’ve been there, lovely photographs!

    • Ha! I never noticed that – he’s right in the firing line! He’s made of tough stuff, that man of mine!

  3. And the boy is happy enough in his t-shirt and shorts, despite the snow…typical!

    • Indeed! He actually had to run up the mountain to play in a big patch of snow! It was nice and cozy in the van, though, because of the sun.

      • Ah, Baltic people and their love of snow 😉 Did the locals there look as miserable as the ones here when it hit the high 20s?!
        Stunning photos by the way!

      • Thanks! No, they actually seem to cheer up a bit when it gets warm. There’s lots of lakes and they love to swim and fish and cook šašlyka, so warm days are welcome! Last week was a bit hot for me, though – not sure how I’ll survive July!
