We all have one good book in us. Or so they say. I’m convinced I have at least one in me but have yet to figure out what it will be. I don’t read much fiction and can’t imagine myself writing anything in that space. That said, I do have a vivid imagination and would love to write something that brings the reader into a completely new world – something akin to “Alice in Wonderland”. More likely it will be my food memoirs – my passions, my challenges, my philosophies, my journey – told around a lifelong love of food.
I struggle to think what this book would be called. “My Food Odyssey” seems too obvious and really doesn’t capture the spirit of my journey or my character. It needs to be pithy, ambiguous and perhaps a little irreverent. Just like me.

Eat me. (This may not be a colloquialism in other parts of the world, but it would crack me up if I saw a book titled, ‘Eat Me” on the shelves in Toronto.)

LOVE that title, Nancy! That’s right up my street! Subtle enough to be missed (or ignored!) but there for the rest of us. Will definitely be keeping this on the list!

I wish I could think of something. I am sure you will come up with a wonderful title. You have some good suggestions already from other readers. Whatever you decide, I am sure it will be catchy and a good read. Good luck in your new adventure! 🙂

I’m sure you would have readers queueing up to read about setting up home in a foreign land and living the dream of self-sufficiency, with its highs and lows. A nostalgic / rural title could work (take inspiration from Laura Ingalls ‘Little House in the Big Woods’). A funny title could be good: Chaos in Kaunas County – How we sold up, shipped out, set up home and came unstuck… Not that you are unstuck of course ;o) I believe with books the thing is to write the damn thing (the hard part) and then pick a good name (the easy part). Yours would be full of stories, recipes, local characters and livestock tips and invite you in like a cosy house. Go for it!

Love the alliteration there, Audie! Also love the idea of a tag line to give context to the main title. I think you’re right though – if I just sit down and write the book the title will come to me. Fingers crossed for deep snow this winter…

I love your picture and the title: Garden of Eden overtones here, if you wanted to go that route 🙂 I’m thinking about the “one good book” quote. Hmm. Immediately, Harper Lee and Margaret Mitchell came to mind, as authors of one good book. I’d be happy with that!

Hmm. A little double-entendre might work well but I’d fear using “cock” in the main title might limit my audience somewhat! There would undoubtedly be some cock references, though.

There’s so much potential in the “cock” angle. “Lithuania – where the cock got the better of me” springs to mind, but there are tons of options!
