House Hunters International: The Video

House Hunters International

I’m so excited – my 15 minutes of fame is finally here! (Actually, it’s 22 minutes, but who’s counting?) I was just enjoying my morning coffee when the post lady pulled up outside. She jumped out of her car brandishing a fancy-looking envelope and I knew immediately that our House Hunters DVD had arrived.

Fresh coffee was made and Arūnas and I settled down on the sofa to watch our episode. I squirmed my way through the whole thing, not focusing at all on the story but instead wondering why my hair was so frizzy, why the heck I chose that t-shirt and when I started to look (and sound) so alarmingly like my sister!

We’re really happy with how it turned out, though. There were a few bits I was disappointed to find weren’t included but we did film for 5 days, so naturally lots of items weren’t going to make the cut. I’m delighted with how they have portrayed Lithuania – they got some beautiful shots of the countryside and really captured the essence of country life here.

For copyright reasons I am not allowed to share the video. However, I did find a version online that may work. (My apologies in advance if it does not!)

      • It was great to see that my little country was featured! I now live in America and miss Lithuania… I am from Vilnius, but had an extended family that lived out in the country and seeing all the fields, country houses and fruit trees and gardens made me teary-eyed. Thank you for sharing it! And what you guys have done with the house is simply amazing!

Love your blog, so cozy! 😉 And I think the fact that you now live in Lithuania makes it that much more precious… Thank you again for sharing!

I just watched the House Hunters episode and found it very interesting. So many couples on this show have unrealistic expectations, but you two have a shared dream and are willing to work for it. I will continue to follow your progress with interest.
It’s a sunny 70 degrees F. here in North Carolina. Hope you are are seeing signs of Spring in Lithuania

    • Hi Lynn. Thanks for watching and commenting. Yeh, I’ve seen a few episodes where shoppers have very high expectations and wonder how they will ever find a home! I guess we were lucky in that we were looking more for potential than for the final product. Signs of spring are definitely showing here in LT – looking forward to getting started on my outdoor planting.

We are our own harshest critics, lol. You were wonderful and so was the episode. Glad you were FINALLY able to view it. That was a loooong wait. Now you can technically say you are t.v. stars. 😉

Loved it also…your genuine love of Lithuania and “Sleepy Adakavar” was palpable and your enthusiasm and passion to transform the house into a home was infectious. You made things very easy for the programme makers…

    • Ah, thank you Gary. You say the nicest things. Still waiting for you guys to come and visit. Combine it with a trip to Vilnius, maybe take in an opera, then come here for some R&R. You know the food will be good! xxx

  15. Ačiū labai June!!

It was great to watch, fantastic choice, great job on your home! Just seeing the open fields brought back so many fond memories, even the smells. The cities are great to visit, but the country side… You’ve got me thinking.
I read what you wrote about giving up the “conventional” jobs and that money is not every thing there is to life, I admire the choice the two of you made!

    Sėkmės

    • Prašom labai, Romai! So glad you enjoyed the episode. I would love if it encouraged some Lithuanians to come back home. Salaries are still quite low here but the country has so much more to offer and many costs are also quite low. I think the biggest attraction is property prices, which are still extremely low. People coming back from overseas with savings could buy a house outright with no mortgage. Ačiū for watching and for your comment. 🙂
