Harmony
It’s almost three years since we set off on our tour of Europe and I still love looking back through the photos. This was taken in Rioja, one of the most scenic places we passed through. This was one of the many occasions when we appreciated the fact that our camper van was dark green. We could park in stunning locations and blend into our surroundings. We were not a disturbance, but instead were in harmony with our environment. If we ever replace the van (and we hope to), we will get something very similar.

Wonderful post! I’ve been there last December! Loved everything: the food, the wine (aww!), the people, the landscape! Due to climate changes we caught the fields already green in December…Sad but beautiful!

It’s frightening how quickly and dramatically the weather is changing. We had a very strange winter here, too. Rioja is so beautiful. Hopefully the changing weather won’t mess up their wine production.

I love Rioja. The wine, that is … I have never been to Rioja itself. You tempt me though as you may recall I drive a yellow SEAT which is incapable of blending anywhere!

Go anyway, Osyth! It’s only a few hours over the mountains into Spain. You could cover a lot of ground in a long weekend.

Rumor has it that van has been spotted in some very scenic locations around the sunny south-east of Ireland. Word is that it is been navigated by a tall handsome man in his mid-to-late fifties who is known to frequent well regarded eating establishments and watering holes in a fifty mile radius of the beautiful little seaside village of Blackwater. I understand that the man in question is what my mother would have referred to as a ‘reserved’ gentleman in so far as, although he is driving an harmonious environmentally friendly camper van, he does on the other-hand dress in the attire of a Country Gentleman complete with shiny brogues, cord trousers, Irish tweed jacket, moderate check shirt and a complementary tie. However, keen observers have also spotted him in a variation of the above but with a cravat and matching kerchief replacing the tie!! Would you have any idea who that person might be?

Funny Gary – I heard it had been bought by a Father Jack-like character who was known to spontaneously shout “feck” and “girls” without provocation! I jest, of course. Said gentleman does have quite the collection of cravats, and likes to tilt his trilby to the Kildare side. 😉

We have only spent a week in Spain, a few days in Barcelona and then briefly to some coastal cities while on a cruise last fall. I’d love to go back and visit some wine growing areas such as Rioja.

It really is gorgeous, Frank. The scenery is stunning and the towns are so well kept. We’d go back in a heartbeat.
