Nighttime
Before we set off on our great adventure around Europe we lived in a top floor apartment in suburban Dublin. Our high vantage point gave us a glorious view. The apartment buildings were set around a courtyard and the fact that you could see into the lives of others in their apartments always reminded me of Hitchcock’s “Rear Window”. Beyond our complex we could see the ruins of an old castle and the glittering city lights, and all with the calming and imposing backdrop of the Dublin Mountains. I loved it.

That is a lovely view. I’ve never been to Ireland…loved the northsider, southsider remarks in the comments. I feel like I’ve infused a little bit of the “Irish” in my day.

We Dubs are very protective of our side of the city! Hope you make it to Ireland someday – it’s worth the trip. Love your photos, by the way. 🙂

Beautiful photo indeed…but wait a minute! What exactly is going on in that room on the extreme right? He’s up to no good that’s for sure…and what’s that on the floor behind him? OMG…if only I could get to a phone (pre-mobile era!). 🙂

We did see some weird and wonderful (and poignant) stuff from that window, Gary! I’ll tell you all about it over a homemade organic wine when you come over. 😉

We haven’t decided yet, Linda. We’ll probably do it here as it’s our first year in the new house. We’ll need to rent a crowd somehow, though – Christmas dinner for two just doesn’t seem right! Lithuanians are incredibly cavalier about Christmas and don’t decide what they’re doing until the week before!

I guess Midsummer is the most important festival there too?
It will be so nice having your first Christmas in the new place! Christmas dinner for two sounds perfect to me but I’m odd 😉

Our very first Christmas together it was just the two of us and it was lovely, but we’re at the stage now where we’d like a bit of company. Midsummer or New Year’s are the two big celebrations here. People do celebrate Christmas – they’re just not great at committing to plans ahead of time!
