Serenity

Winter has final arrived here in Lithuania. It feels like we’ve been waiting for months for the snow to fall. We had a sprinkling in December and another in early January, but only now are we getting the thick blanket of snow typical of a Lithuanian winter. The sky has been grey for weeks. Now that the snow has fallen, hopefully the grey will give way to the clear blue skies and sunshine that make the snow sparkle like a million tiny diamonds. In the meantime, the snowy ground and grey skies are creating a very serene landscape, highly conducive to curling up with a glass of wine and a good book. I can live with that, for now.

A beautiful winter picture. Except for the barn, it could be our farm! It is strange that the clouds keep cold and warm air out. You would think it would be the other way around. It is the same here in the United States. I like the sunshine and it does make things really pretty. Especially the snow. 🙂

This is not just serene, it’s sublime; that said, it looks cold as h—.

Thanks Jann! Bizarrely, it actually gets colder when the sun comes out – the clouds keep the icy cold air out. With the cold comes the pretty, though, so that’s ok!

Great photo but it’s all a little bleak and lonely for my liking! Hopefully I’ll soon be looking at snow-covered drug dealers out my window 😉

Yeh, I can see how it could look lonely. I just love the stillness of it. I think I might find the drug dealers a little distracting!

They might look prettier covered in twinkly snow 😉

What beautiful snow!! I’m missing the snow right now… in Mallorca we only have rain, although it is pretty to hear outside my window. Enjoy your winter weather 🙂

Ooh, I’d say Mallorca is gorgeous this time of year. I’ve only ever been there in summer, but I’ve love to see it off-season. Enjoy the pitter-patter of your rain!

Thank you!! It’s definitely a lot calmer now than during tourist season 🙂
