Food Word of the Day: Pinguid

Food Word of the Day: Pinguid | www.myfoododyssey.com

I am a closet logophile. I consider myself well-read but I am regularly surprised and delighted to come across new words, particularly when they are related to food and eating. Sometimes, though, despite there being over a quarter of a million words to choose from, I like to make up my own. Composite words like “delucious” can be both fun and descriptive.

I recently started a series of food words on my Facebook page. I pick an unusual food or drink-related word each day and present a postcard with the definition. (Note that I include only the food-related definition, even if alternative definitions exist.) I will occasionally include a word I’ve made up, just for fun!

I have been posting these cards to a new “Food Word of the Day” page here on the blog, but because they are on a page and not a blog post readers do not get notified when I add a new word. I don’t want to bombard e-mail subscribers with mail, but I do feel this is content that readers would enjoy, so I’m going to try posting them as blog posts for a few weeks. If you’re an e-mail subscriber and you feel it’s too much, please do let me know.

I hope you enjoy the words as much as I do. If you have any suggestions, please do let me know!
